IS IT MUCH BETTER COMPARE TO THE LAWS IT WILL BE REPEALED ONCE

APPROVED INTO A LAW? WHY YES AND WHY NOT?

I believe so because RA 5527 governs medical technology practice in the Philippines, and several revisions, including RA 6132, Presidential Decrees 498 and 1534, have failed to meet the current demands of medical technology education and practice. If Senate Bill 2722 becomes law, we will see an improvement in health professional training and performance in the Philippines.

FURTHERMORE...

The Medical Technology Act, Republic Act 5527, was passed in 1969. The majority of the sections of the law have become obsolete over the course of forty-one years and no longer apply to current conditions, despite the fact that it was originally designed to regulate the practice of laboratory professionals in clinical laboratory settings. Today, medical technology has expanded into a variety of fields, including research, education, and specialized fields. As a result, RA 5527 requires revision in order to adequately address the demands of the Medical Technology profession.

Philippine schools sought to adjust and amend their respective syllabuses in order to bridge the gap between their standard and the current trend in the medical world in order to produce globally competitive medical technologists. This high and global standard of medical technology schools should be supported by legislation that ensures the competitiveness and excellence of both new medical technology graduates and full-fledged medical technologists in the country.

The current bill seeks, among other things, to appoint a qualified medical technologist to head the Board of Medical Technology, to establish the Technical Panel in Medical Technology Education under the Commission on Higher Education, and to update the law by introducing provisions for Continuing Medical Technology Education and Phlebotomist Certification, as well as relevant provisions to address current-day requirements to ensure the global competitiveness of the profession. Medical technologists can achieve their full potential and maximize their role in the medical field in particular, and in Philippine society in general, to the benefit of the Filipino people.

As a practical matter, the passage of this bill is both timely and appropriate. So I expect it to be significantly better; this Senate bill simply seeks to improve our healthcare services, particularly in the medical technologist profession. This new bill aims to bring the education of medical technologists in the country up to parity with the rest of the world's medical professionals.
